Alexander Bays
self-taught* programmer, designer and r/neography hobbyist from Dallas, TX.bays@956mb.com
my self-taught skills journey started around 2010, initially focusing on graphic design and learning Photoshop, doing mostly minor freelance work. in 2018, a computer engineer friend introduced me to programming, and it quickly became my passion. when i'm not working on the long list of projects, i'm slowly learning languages like 한국어 or Finnish, and i'm thinking up / drawing new "languages" on Reddit.
i love Swift (and SwiftUI) for Apple app experiments like 2048WE and TDB, and i've leaned heavily on JavaScript / TypeScript for desktop apps and web projects like Reddit Download Buttons, plus React for this site. Lua shows up in my Neovim plugins, while C/C++ is for Flipper Zero / Momentum Firmware work. Python is still my main language for coding problems (AoC, Kata), and of course wrapping my head around Rust remains a struggle.
most* frontend / design project starts in & Figma, Photoshop or Illustrator (recently with the momentum-fw.dev redesign), and code lands in either Neovim (ghostty), VSCode or Xcode depending on the project. i also get way too distracted with my dotfiles.
