Alexander BaysSelf-taught* programmer, designer and r/neography hobbyist from Dallas, TX.bays@956mb.com
My self-taught skills journey started around 2010, initially focusing on graphic design and learning Photoshop, doing mostly minor freelance work. In 2018, a computer engineer friend introduced me to programming, and it quickly became my passion. When I'm not working on the long list of projects, I'm slowly learning languages like 한국어 or Finnish, and I'm thinking up / drawing new "languages" on Reddit. In addition to loving Swift (and SwiftUI) for Apple products, I've worked a lot with both JavaScript / TypeScript to make desktop apps and websites in & React (this website), and I'm most recently exploring languages like Lua and C/C++ for things like Neovim plugins and Flipper Zero / Momentum Firmware development. And of course wrapping my head around Rust remains a struggle.Every frontend / design project starts in & Figma, Photoshop or Illustrator, and all code is written in either Neovim (ghostty), VSCode or Xcode (depending on my interest at the moment or which is best for the job). I also get way too distracted with my dotfiles.
